Good Evening Friends:

This has been a wonderfully crazy weekend at the Wyma house this weekend.  We took in several St. Patrick's Day events which I culminated with making a special Irish dinner to celebrate my family's heritage.

What can I say--there was A LOT of GREEN this weekend.  The Spartans win over U of M has my family a little sad tonight but as a wise person once said----you can only get green by adding some blue and yellow!!!

Seriously...congrats to MICHIGAN STATE on becoming the Big 10 Champions!! I love it when ANY local team wins--it is exciting!!!

Happy MONDAY eve!!

Good Afternoon!

What a beautiful Sunday.  It is just amazing how seeing some sunshine can make us feel so wonderful inside.

Your children did a wonderful job with their nonfiction projects.  If you are having trouble viewing them, please send a note or email me and I will try to resend them to you.  I can also show them to you at conferences in a few weeks.

BIBLE MEMORY:

I have had a few parents ask me about this so I though that I better clarify.  I am not requiring our child to memorize every bible memory sent home.  Some of them are very long and are causing some great anxiety for some students.  As parents, you can decide to have your child memorize them or not.  I am asking that if your child chooses to not memorize the verse then they need to sit down with a parent and read it together and then talk about what it means in their life.  Then, jot me a note letting me know that you and your child did that and send it back to school for me to record.

Thank you!!  Erin

I am not sure if I attached this to my previous blog so here it is again- from the music teacher.

A Music Note

Our hymn for the month of February has been We Praise You, O God. The tune to this song was originally a patriotic Dutch song written in the 16th Century. The words were translated into English in 1917 and known today as the Thanksgiving hymn We Gather Together. Using the original melody, Julia C. Cory wrote new words to this tune which is our hymn of the month. This is our sixth hymn of the month that contains the words “praise” or “bless” as a way to worship God inspired by our theme verse of Psalm 103:1.
Third Grade - Due to a special assembly and all the snow days, we were unable to begin recorders as planned. We will hit the ground running with recorders at the beginning of March. In the couple of lessons we did have this month, we continued to learn about musical form. We learned that when we can understand how music is organized, it is easier to learn to play it. For example, Hot Cross Buns has two short parts or phrases to it. If you learn both parts you can put the song together quite easily.
